Visaul language of the prisoner Part 1

Being as this seems like a very huge part of my project and an ongoing part ive decided to keep you updated on the visaul language i see watching the episodes of "the prisoner" also visaul language i see during my daily life that can be compared to "the prisoner", and please, dont be shy, feel free to share you visaul language too. ^_^

Anywhoo? While watching the first episode of "the prisoner" i came across a few objects that stood out to me in perticular. one of them being the "lava lamp".

Now the lava lamps are spotted throughtout the whole series and are used as cameras which you find out later in the series. when lava lamps first hit the world it was a big hit through the 60's and early 70's. they featured many different designs and colours and was used for a more decoritive reason then illumination.

Next we have the most famous egg chair first used in the prisoner and now is echoing in many industries. The chair is seen in many episodes of the series in the office of "number 2". The first time you see the chiar "number 2" is sitting in it with a cane and seem pretty important if you ask me. I dont know what it is but something about the chair when you sit in it makes you look important and posses some kind of controll or power over something/someone. i also notice that when sitting in one of these chairs there is much open air to you and can seem quite cramped and uncomfortable. this could convey that number 2 sits in it the feel isolated from the village because he too may feel trapped and prisoned within it so him sitting in the chair lets us and himself know that he is seperate and may have to option to leave whenever he wants. sometimes the chair can be seen as 1960's thrown kind of. ^_^ LOL

Like i said previously the egg chair has echoed throw different industries. above is a image from men in black 2 and again its conveying the importance of the two men (Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith).

The image above doesn't show the exact design but something very simular. the artist could of base the advertisement of the egg chair and again conveying how precious and powewrful this fone is.

number 6's blazer/jacket he wear's in the prisoner gives him a more sleek shady look and kind of feeds more of a mystery theme to the audiences. the blazer is black which could mean he is a dark hearted man and that could lead to why he is in the village in addition there is also white which good mean thewre is good in him.

The jacket/blazer in the prisoner has had an effect opn thje fashion world (as you can see from the image above). the fashions blazer know as "the balenciaga blazer" looks very simular to number 6's jacket in the prisoner and we as an audience can assume that maybe the artist that designs the blazer may have got the idea from the show.

so through these simply yet noticable objects  we spot during the series  we are already getting a strong visual language of the show and what we could expect later in the show.

Visual language?????

As i said before the first project im doing revolves around the 1967 show "the prisoner" and in this session i have been ask to try to understand/acknowledge the "Visual language" of the prisoner???
Are you as confused as i am? :@

Anywhoooo? well i decided to start by finding out what Drew-sensei (my teacher) ment by "Visual Language". Now where to start but the very basic and inacurrate at times "Wikipedia", yes yes i know it can sometimes be absolute crap but hey, its worth a look.

Now as you can see from my link above lovely wiki has provided use with a very basic opening sentence to what is the meaning of "Visual Language".

"The visual language is a system of communication using visual elements"

So its a way of communicating through the look of something instead of the words or sound. So now i need to know what Language is "the prisoner" speaking to me ? lol lets go into more detail. i continued to read down this wiki page and i came across a quote i quite liked which made things alot clearer for me.

"Just as people can 'verbalize' their thinking, they can 'visualize' it. A diagram, a map, and a painting are all examples of uses of visual language."

Now knowing this just clears my mind yet confuses it too. basically everything i see in the episodes of "the prisoner" is part of there visaul language. so now im just going to work off the main objects and images seen in the first episode i watched.

3D!!!!

Alright so the first project ive been given revolves around the world of 3d and ive been ask to do a bit of research in 3d applications and what there used for. Sounds easy right? Well the 3d app i currently use is Autodesk maya. which is in my opinion awesome ^_^. But there are others used in the games industy and in other industries.
Below I've put a link to the top 5 3d modelling and rendering applications used. the thing is its not quite up to date , it was actually hard to find one that was this recent, so i wouldn't trust this to mush in addition its only an opinion different people feel more comfortable with other softwares. But still give it a scan through and see if any of these softwares appeal to you most of them are very user friendly (MAYA! MAYA! MAYA!) and the article gives you the official websites of the apps as well so dont worry about the long trip you would have to take to your keyboard to type in the urllol just click click click ^_^
